ST. TROPEZ GRADUAL TAN IN SHOWER LOTION REVIEW

We have now approached self tanning season which means us ladies are all looking for a easy way to tan this summer... so does St. Tropez's new innovative Gradual Tan In Shower Lotion meet expectations of a dreamy natural glow?

I haven't used a gradual fake tan in what seems like forever so when I bought this product I had very high expectations. St. Tropez is known for its luxury self tanning products and when this was launched I was super excited & it was on my wish list straight away. What appealed to me the most was you were able to use it as part of your shower routine. I'm very lazy when it comes to things like this so only having to spare 3 minutes of my day to apply this sounded perfect.

The process/application:
To apply this tan you have to wash as usual in the shower and then turn your shower off. The tan develops on wet skin so you are able to massage into the skin in circular motions whilst still wet (this makes it easier to rub in and to avoid those awful streaks). Wait 3 minutes and then wash off. Those 3 minutes feel like forever. There isn't really much you can do whilst waiting for the tan to sink in apart from naked dance to the radio.

The colour:
Of course you're not going to see instant results as it is a gradual tan... don't expect to look like you've just come back from a holiday to Mexico after one application. I would say it takes around 3-4 times until you visibly see a natural glow. If you're looking for a more subtle, sun kissed golden colour - then this is perfect for you. However, if you're looking for a more intense tan then I wouldn't recommend this product. As I mentioned above, it is super easy to rub in and therefore you avoid any streaking etc - end results do look professional.

The smell
I've read other reviews saying that there was no traditional fake tan smell... In the shower I couldn't smell anything whilst applying it, however, I could vaguely smell the awful biscuit scent afterwards. It was no where near as strong as most fake tans but it didn't smell like dreamy coconuts or anything either!

Overall, I do like this product and I'm really impressed with it being streak free. It doesn't transfer on your clothes either - so don't be afraid to wear white lol! However, I don't think I shall repurchase, gradual tans that take 3-4 applications before you see any colour just aren't for me (told you I'm lazy).

Have you tried this product? What are your thoughts? Recommend any holy grail tanning products?

With love,
Katie xo

  1. I got a sample of this with InStyle magazine and although I wasn't disappointed, I think I'll stick to my trusty St Moriz or White to Brown because I like my tan a bit darker!
